Thinking of Lapland I remembered the film Pathfinder that Kit and I must have watched at least four times when he was little.- Not that little! It is a bit scary in places. - It is the first full length film in the Sami language and using mainly Sami actors. Wikipedia link.
At the moment it is available on You Tube without subtitles but you can get subtitled versions at MUBI online and the DVD can be ordered through LoveFilm. And I'm sure some of the more dodgy video streaming sites will have it too, if you use those.
So if you have not seen do try to find a copy.
It is one of my favourite films and a classic!
I shall watch it again tonight and be very sad remembering past times in Jokkokk and Samiland.
And here is one of the most famous living Sami, the singer and activist Mari Boine. I was lucky enough to see her perform in London while I was at SOAS.
You probably know this song.

... and some more music. A Lapp legend from perhaps the most famous of all Lapps
I found the first half of Pathfinder with subtitles! So this will at least give you a taste. Sadly the second half has been taken down.
... and I can't write about Lapland without including this. Hearing it I am immediately taken back to beautiful Muddusjaure.
